When a brand is a teaser campaign, there is always a risk of being a little disappointed or even frustrated. Since Tuesday, we waited patiently (gnawing our brake anyway) for the new Wiko prepared by following the release of a video of much teasing tempting. And feel that we have now is mixed. Because it is not really a new product but the formalization of an announced since last June smartphone: the Highway 4G. It is indeed the Medpi 2014 we became aware of the existence of the mobile. The surprise was not as strong than expected.

However, we will not sulk our pleasure as the Highway 4G seems to be, on paper, a great platform, not only erasing some defects Highway, but also those of Wax. Are, the Highway 4G seems to be THE flagship Wiko awaited. And potentially able to move some lines in the midrange.

The original Highway, Wiko kept what was its primary strength: Full HD 5-inch screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 on the one hand and licked the design on the other. In Medpi, Wiko already showed his ambition on 4G

Wax on Highway obviously inherits the 4G connectivity and an nVidia Tegra 4i we tortured in our tests last May chipset. We then fussy with this chipset, because we expected much and performance was not quite up to the ambitions of the brand and its founder partner. However, admittedly, the Wax has made us extremely demanding of all 4G smartphones in the market.
See happen in the Tegra 4i Highway is excellent news, which is lined by upscale: instead of the 1.7 GHz model, Wiko chose the quad-core model clocked at 2 GHz. A gain raw power of about 15%. Not to mention that the Highway will be released as KitKat, lighter version of the Jelly Bean which then fitted to the Wax. The question is what will be the behavior of a full HD chipset with 2GB RAM and screen. He obviously look forward to testing it.
Future best-seller on the midrange?
Last good surprise of this smartphone: it will be marketed at less than 300 euros, Wiko confirming it no longer wishes to exceed this limit, as was the case with the Highway. So understand that the price will certainly be 299 euros. Or fifty euros less than the original model. That will be very incentive. If the mobile is able to avoid the pitfalls of our tests, Highway 4G may well be one of the best releases this autumn on the midrange. Verdict in October.
